On March 2, Infineon announced the acquisition of GaN Systems, a GaN company, in a deal worth USD830 million (approximately RMB5.73 billion). According to the announcement, Infineon plans to acquire GaN Systems for all cash, which will be financed by existing working capital.

In the field of third-generation semiconductors, Infineon has previously focused on SiC, and has accumulated abundant customers in the SiC power semiconductor market, and the supply chain layout is also relatively perfect, but there are not many dynamics in the field of GaN.

By acquiring GaN Systems, Infineon can not only quickly enrich its product line and customer base, but also combine GaN Systems' accumulated GaN technology with Infineon's advanced 8-12 inch wafer fab and production process to bring GaN application to a new height.
