The iPhone phone provides pretty good battery life through the low-power A-series chip and the optimization of the iOS system software. It's worth noting that battery life is extended even further with Low Battery Mode, a mode that focuses on extending the battery life of iPhone as long as possible by limiting background functions.
While iPhone isn't the fastest charging smartphone available, it can go from 0% to 50% in about 30 minutes. So, does iPhone charge faster with Low Battery mode enabled? We've done some tests to find out.
iPhone's Low Battery Mode
Before we discuss whether Low Battery Mode affects the charging speed of your iPhone, it's important to understand exactly what Low Battery Mode does.
As the name implies, your iPhone is in a low-power state in this mode to extend its battery life. Apple does this by limiting many background tasks, disabling push email syncing, background app refresh, system animations, iCloud Photos, 5G, and more. All of these restrictions help reduce the overall power consumption of your iPhone phone, resulting in longer battery life.
Quickly charging iPhone with Low Battery Mode enabled
Today we're using the iPhone 13 Pro as a test case. We drained the battery on iPhone 13 Pro to about 30 percent and charged it for 30 minutes using a USB-C to flash cable and a 20W power adapter.
With Low Battery Mode enabled, my iPhone 13 Pro charged from 30 percent to 77 percent in 30 minutes. The next day in regular mode, it charged from 31 percent to 78 percent in 30 minutes.
All iPhone introduced since iPhone 8 in 2017 support fast charging, which can quickly charge iPhone from 0 percent to 50 percent in 30 minutes when using a compatible power adapter and cable, after which the charge rate starts to slow down, especially after the battery is above 80 percent.
Overall, our tests show that iPhone doesn't charge any faster with Low Battery Mode enabled.
